University of Oviedo (UniOvi)
The node of the University of Oviedo is the group MAGNES (Materiales Magnéticos Avanzados para Energía y Salud), a multidisciplinary group gathering physicists, chemists, engineers, microbiologists and biotechnologists.
The synthesis, characterisation and application of materials at the nanoscale is the central researching lines for this node. The research group MAGNES is focused on understanding the fundamental aspects of the nanomaterials for their application in healthcare (biosensing, magnetic hyperthermia and laserthermia) and energy (storage and refrigeration). The group is completed by two researchers of UNIR (Universiad Internacional de la Rioja) who are microbiologists associated to MAGNES and working at the University of Oviedo lab’s.

As a multidisciplinary network,we complement each other.

- Sensors based on Magnetic Lateral Flow Immunoassays
- Signal Amplification Systems by Magnetic Nanoparticle Assembly
- Magnetic Immuno-separation, Concentration and Relocation for Sensitivity Increase in Lateral Flow Immunoassays
- Magnetic Hyperthermia and Laserthermia
- Magnetism and Magnetic Materials
- New Antimicrobial Agents
