Isabel Pastoriza Santos
Isabel Pastoriza Santos is an associate professor in the University of Vigo (Spain), where she obtained her PhD. Her current interest involves the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, mainly gold and silver, with size and shape control and therefore with desired optical properties. Furthermore, her research is also focused on the surface modification and assembly of the nanoparticles to improve their versatility.
Jorge Pérez-Juste
Jorge Pérez-Juste is associate professor in the Department of physical chemistry at the University of Vigo (Spain), where he got his PhD. His research is focussed on the synthesis, characterization and application of metal nanoparticles. The morphology control of gold nanoparticles and its effect on a variety of physical properties is a hot topic and particularly the understanding of the mechanisms involved in nanoparticle growth, which determine the final size and shape.
Pablo Hervés-Beloso
Pablo Hervés-Beloso got his PhD. from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1991. Postdoctoral fellow with Lyn Williams at Durham University (United Kingdom). Since 1992 he is at the University of Vigo, currently as professor. The reactivity branch conducts research on chemical reactivity in nanoheterogeneous media (micelles, microemulsions, vesicles and nanoparticles). The aim is using these systems to modulate the chemical reaction, specially in its kinetic aspect.
Sara Nunez-Sánchez
Sara Nunez-Sánchez is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vigo (Spain). She got a PhD in Material Science (Physics) from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Instituto de Óptica – Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). She is an expert on light-matter interactions at the nanoscale with a strong background in functional materials. Her work has been focused on how to incorporate novel functionalities to nanophotonic devices through designed optical properties of materials, including incorporation of Q-emitter complexes, phase change materials or metal-like molecular materials
Here, at the University of Vigo she is developing novel nanolamps doped by donor-acceptor pairs. These nanolamps will open wavelength windows through biological tissue in order to control cellular activity at the nanoscale.
